Twenty-six years ago I married my best friend. Her name is Misty, and she is the reason Holdfast Nutrition exists.
In 2023, Misty was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. If you’ve ever watched someone you love receive a diagnosis like that, you know the particular kind of helplessness that follows. The world keeps moving but you’re standing still, trying to process what it means and what comes next.
For me, standing still was never an option.
I started researching everything I could about MS — the treatments, the progression, the lifestyle factors that could make a difference. Misty was placed on a B cell depleting therapy, a treatment that works by intentionally suppressing parts of the immune system to slow the disease. My first instinct was to find supplements that could help boost her immune system back up. What I discovered stopped me in my tracks.
The immune suppression wasn’t a side effect. It was the point.
That realization sent me back to the drawing board. If I couldn’t target her immune system directly, I would find another way. I began researching quality of life — energy, cognitive function, inflammation, neuroprotection. I wanted to find a combination of nutrients that could genuinely support someone living with MS without interfering with her treatment.
What I found surprised me. Despite the millions of people living with MS worldwide, there was no supplement system thoughtfully designed for them. Plenty of individual products. Nothing cohesive. Nothing that accounted for the complexity of their situation.
So I decided to build it myself.
As the research deepened, something else happened. I started recognizing ingredients that could help beyond MS. You see, I personally struggle with diabetes and high blood sugar. Along the way I found nutrients that addressed metabolic health, energy regulation, and blood sugar balance just as powerfully as they addressed neurological support. What began as a mission to help Misty evolved into something larger — a layered nutrition system designed to support people facing a wide range of complex health challenges.
That system is Holdfast Nutrition.
The name means something to us. To hold fast is to grip firmly when everything around you is uncertain. It’s what Misty does every single day. It’s what anyone living with a chronic condition does when they choose to fight for their quality of life.
